Watch: Rohit Sharma Spotted Jogging In Mumbai Bandra Kurla Complex Amid Ranji Trophy 2025
India’s Test and ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, was seen focusing on his fitness on Wednesday, January 15, at Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). A day earlier, on Tuesday, January 14, Rohit participated in a batting session alongside Ajinkya Rahane at the Wankhede Stadium.
The practice session was held with the Mumbai squad as they prepare for their upcoming Ranji Trophy clash against Jammu & Kashmir, scheduled to begin on January 23. It remains uncertain whether Rohit will feature in the match, as his last appearance in the Ranji Trophy dates back to 2015, against Uttar Pradesh.
Here’s a video of Rohit Sharma running at Mumbai’s BKC:
A Challenging Border-Gavaskar Trophy Campaign
The 37-year-old endured a difficult 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, both as a captain and a batter. In three matches, Rohit managed just 31 runs across five innings as India struggled, losing two matches and drawing one. The series ended in a 3-1 defeat, causing India to miss out on a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Focus Shifts to Limited-Overs Cricket
With the focus now shifting to white-ball cricket, Rohit will look to regain his form. India is set to host England in a three-match ODI series, followed by the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy. These events will be pivotal for both Rohit’s captaincy and his international career.
Rohit Sharma’s ODI Brilliance
Rohit’s ODI journey had a slow start as a middle-order batter, scoring just 1,874 runs in 75 matches at an average of 34.07. However, his move to the opening position transformed his career.
Now, with 265 ODIs under his belt, Rohit has amassed 10,866 runs at an impressive average of 49.16. His record includes 57 half-centuries and 31 centuries, and he remains the only player to have scored three double centuries in the 50-over format.
As India gears up for a packed cricketing calendar, fans will be hoping Rohit Sharma can return to his best, both as a captain and a batter.
